2. How long have you been interested in dolls?
I did the American girl thing when I was little - starting at about 8, since I’ve always been interested in miniature THINGS. XD Super Dollfies? Since about the beginning of 2004.

As of right now - 2.

4. What is/are the name(s) of your doll(s)?
Kaien (F-29) & Terranova (Unoa Sist)

5. What type of SD do you have?
Volks FCS SD13 F29 Boy - modified and an Unoa Quluts Sist.

6. Do you believe in Fate?
Some things are supposed to happen, but we certainly can control where we’re going with our own lives. :3

7. Who is the manufacturer of your doll(s)?
Volks and Alchemic Labo.

8. What was your first reaction when you saw your SD for the first time?
Love. Kaien was not perfect when I got him, but he was in there, and (his SD form) was the product of a year’s worth of angst and sacrifice so it felt amazing to have him home. There is no way to describe how much more amazing it is to greet your doll in real life that it is to just stare at photos online. From the moment he got here, we began the rough road it took to get him altogether here, but the journey was/is certainly an enjoyable experience.
Aaaand…I was surprised about how small his head/how tall his body was. XD;

9. Have you shown your doll off at a Doll Show?
No Doll Shows, but they do come with me to Anime Conventions (namely Katsucon and Otakon).

10. Which do you prefer? Commercial SDs (such as Kyon customed dolls) or customizing your own SD?
If you can’t tell, I’d rather customize my own dolls. There are some customs out there I would kill for, but for my own characters, I haven’t been able to bring myself to send them off to be fixed up by someone else, so for now, I do it myself. Even if it isn’t the most beautiful thing ever.

11. How do you feel about Commercial SDs?
I don’t really feel different about them than I do about FCS and the like. Once a doll gets here, it is the character who claimed the face, whether the doll had a personality or name before or not. :D

12. Did you create a personality/background for your doll(s)?
Certainly. Actually, I’ve got a growing story planned for all of them, which I hope to write/draw someday. It just need a uh…name. And a place to start. XD

13. What type of relationship do you have with your doll (ex. Beloved daughter, friend)?
They’re friends. I certainly don’t see myself as their mother, or a relative. But they are companions that know me and I know them well. They’re my “crew”.

14. Does your SD have a nickname?
So far, Kaien hasn’t got any nicknames, though my parents like to call him “cayenne” after the pepper. Terranova can be Terra, mostly Nova, and sometimes Miss TN.

15. What special meaning does your doll's name have?
Kaien: Means “sea swallow” in Japanese. I saw it and once I found out what it meant I knew it was for him. The sea is/was certainly a part of Kaien’s life, and a bird fits him and his past best, at least in my mind. Plus, it just sounded like him when I first saw it. :3
Terranova: Terra is Latin for “Earth” and Nova for “new”. The meaning was not particularly important, as how the name just FIT her as soon as I’d heard it.

16. Does your SD have a special seat/place in your room? If so, where?
Generally on my desk, right next to the keyboard, sitting or standing. Or lounging in the armchair that sometimes occupies my desk.

17. Did you buy a chair specifically for your SD?
Yessum. A brown wingback, SD13 sized.

18. Does your SD have accessories of her own? (ex. pets, toys, hairbrush)
Well…Kaien has some sunglasses, though I’d much love to have goggles soon. And he definitely needs some appropriately sized books - those have been too long in coming. So far Terranova has two swords & a dagger, and counting. She needs some automatic weapons - basically anything deadly I can get my hands on.

19. What hard to find items do you wish you could get for your doll?
A nice couch. *_* Nice guns and goggles, again. And books aren’t too hard to find, but in the right size that are actually books and not just stupid lists of things or advice. XP

20. What is the most expensive thing you've bought for your doll?
Clothes, as of now. Even though I haven’t bought them too many of those either. >>

21. When you go out, do you take your doll with you?
To certain people’s houses to visit other dolls, to conventions, and on any trips out of state if I can manage it.

22. If so, where have you taken your doll?
See above. It’s hard to bring them anywhere else, as no one else around here has dolls and I don’t want to make it awkward for them. ><

23. Is there a regular place you take your doll out to?
Not really.

24. If you do take your doll out of the house, how do you carry her? (ex. SD violin case, backpack,etc)
I have a Volks carryier bag now, so definitely in that!

25. When you do take your doll out, is it easy to do or do you find it's more trouble than it's worth?
Depends on the company. My family is highly unsupportive of the hobby, and tend to tease me unrelentlessly even when they’re not with me.

26. Does your doll have a friend? Do you think your doll wants a friend?
They’ve got…friends. I just haven’t brought them home yet. :D

27. If you could build your dream FCS for free, what would it be?
Well, I DID. Twice. ^^;; If I could again, it would be a F16, long legged, white skinned. I’d have to customize the wig and eyes. Because Yashin needs his trusty “second in command” and will massacre me when he finds out how much longer it will be ‘til he arrives. Mercedes should come home first, but I’m not going to be able to do her through FCS.

28. What is your favorite optional head?
I love too many of them for different things and for different dolls/characters. So I can’t just say there’s one out of all of them that’s perfect, because it all depends on who wants that head. XD

29. What is your least favorite optional head?
I don’t really look through the heads thinking “this is my least favorite! XO” so I can’t really say off the top of my head. It’d probably be one of the female heads, because I don’t really pay as much attention to those, but again - I can’t say and I don’t really want to. Any head can be beautiful and lust worthy with the proper customization. *_*

30. What type of fantasy head would you like to see produced?
Older looking dolls. Seductive/unbubbly female heads. :X And I would really like to see more skin tones - particularly much darker ones.

31. What is your favorite wig for your doll?
Erm…haven’t found it yet? I rather like the w-55, but it takes a lot of hacking and styling to get it right for Kaien. I’m in love with Yashin’s default wig I’ve got waiting - the Volks W-103.

32. What made you choose your SD out of all the various types?
Kaien in my head/drawings fit the F29 best of all (though I did consider a school head A for a loooong time. >>), with a bit of modding. Terranova had been around for a while, but I hadn’t quite pinned down what she looked like. And then I started falling in love with the Unoa body, and the Sist head was just right for the insane little girl I had planned.

33. Do you change your SD's wig often and have you tried styling the wigs?
I’ve got a few fur wigs for Kaien, but none work quite right. :X So he sticks with his default which I’ve hacked to death and coated with Volks oil spray. I tried styling some wigs for Terranova, but no luck yet, so her default is working just as well for now - crazy braids are too much fun. :3

34. How many wigs do you have?
Lets see…3 for Kaien, 1 for Yashin, 3 for Terranova + 1 I destroyed, and one for Yashin. Not too many, not that I haven’t tried to get more. XO

35. How many shoes do you have for your doll? Does your doll have socks too?
I NEED some socks is what. Kaien’s got his boots and sneakers, and Terranova has two pairs of boots. I need some more shooooes.

36. What types of clothing does your doll wear? (name in order of favorite styles)
Kaien: Has a thing for high collars. Likes comfy clothes and grungy things, and not too picky about colors/styles as long as they’re not horribly flamboyant. Though, he’s pretty easygoing about clothes in general, so I could get a lot of stuff by him.
Terranova: Cute, trendy, perky clothes. Boy’s clothes. Anything she can work and travel well in. Bright colors are fine, dark colors are fine (as long as she’s not in all black.) Just so long as it’s not some uppity gothiloli mess, she’ll take it.

37. Where do you purchase your SD clothing?
Er…the only stuff I’ve bought so far are from…Volks, Luts, and Leigh I think. XD (how long have I had these dolls?) Everything else I’ve made myself. :3

38. Do you sew clothing for your doll?
Been trying to! *_* Not that any of it is much good so far.

39. Do you plan on dressing your doll as an anime character? If so, who?
I had wanted to do a Bleach cosplay for the longest time, but AUGH it’s far too popular now and I don’t need my dolls joining in on that trend. But I do plan on having them cosplay something at some point, certainly.

40. Do you make accessories for you doll? What kinds?
Er, I’ve made hats and gloves? But those are basically clothing, so no. Not really.

41. Have you made doll items that you plan on selling?
I’ve tried one outfit on Ebay so far, and am going to try more in the future. ^^

42. Do you sew/knit/crochet and for how long?
Sew, and basically only since Kaien got here. I had no reason to before, and on one was keen on teaching me anything sooo…I just attempted it myself. :X

43. Is there a type of music that you listen to when you are with your dolls?
Everything I listen to anyway.

44. Have you ever thought about opening a doll shop?
I wish. XD If anyone ever gets interested in anything I have to offer.

45. Do you have a specific area in your home where you keep your SD?
My room, all over where ever I am.

46. For how long did you know about SDs before you actually got your SD?
Er…I first saw them about a year and a half before I got Kaien, but I was commited when Rhian brought home her Sadame and Lyn brought home her Gabriel. <3

47. Do you carry your doll around in the house?
Well, I do have to transport them from place to place you know. Especially for photos.

48. Is there a special place in your house that you like to sit with your doll?
Not especially. They usually sit next me where ever I am, which is usually my desk, and sometimes keep me company when I sleep on my bed.

49. What are the comments you have heard in regards to your doll, after others have seen it in person?
From family…every negative thing you could imagine about them. Fortunately most friends I’ve shown them to think they’re very pretty and really interesting.

50. Does your doll have their own website?
Now they do. XD *sooo slow with it*

51. What is the color of your doll(s) eyes now? Also give the size of eyes, too.
Kaien has got Zouks in 18mm light blue. If I could, I’d get him a pair of very bright, very pale, blue-green eyes in 16mm or 17mm, as that‘s what they‘re really supposed to be. Nova has got a pair of blue eyes in I have no idea what size. I’d love to get her a pair of soft gray, gray-green, or gray-brown eyes in 12mm.

52. What is your favorite eye color for your doll(s) and why?
Above!

53. How often do you change the eyes?
Hardly ever. They’ve each got another pair of eyes, but I don’t like them nearly as much as their current ones.
54. How many different pairs of eyes do you have for your doll?
Above, again. XD;

55. Do you believe your doll has a "soul"?
Kaien would not be Kaien if I weren’t here. So if they have a soul, it’s because I want them to. I certainly don’t believe they’re just inanimate pieces of plastic, but without owners, where would the dolls be?

56. Do you talk to your doll?
When I’m fussing over something like, “WHY did your foot just pop off?” or “WHY won’t you let me paint your face right?” or basically, “Arrrrg.”

57. When talking to your doll, how does she address you?
Yuki, I guess? Though that’s a bit strange. They do have to reference me sometimes, but it’s hard for me to imagine them calling me by any real name.

58. How do men react to your doll?
Only men who have had a chance to react to it are my Dad and brother. Dad is the nicest about it, but he likes to tease me. I think my brother just pretends they aren’t there most of the time.

59. What was your favorite childhood doll growing up and why?
Well…I’d buy Barbies and then tie them to trees and throw oranges at them and then cut all their hair off, ect., ect. And then I’d get more and do it again. I liked American Girl dolls for all the little awesome clothes and items. I could care less about the actual doll.

60. Did you have to sell items from a personal collection to raise money to purchase your doll?
The very same American girl dolls. XD;;; I think I sold off some of my manga too. But I had so many strange ways of saving up when I got Kaien.

61. If so, what did you sell?
Answered that one already.

62. How much do you spend on your doll a month? What is the maximum you would spend?
I’m not going to measure that one, because it varies widely, and I don’t set myself a limit because I just get what I need/desperately want.

63. Have you purchased something you regretted later?
Maybe? But little stuff, nothing more than 10 bucks at most. Like when I got those sneakers that didn't fit. XD;;;

64. Do you like buying clothing sets for your doll?
I would love TO buy clothing sets for my doll. Money just gets in my way.

65. How often do you change your dolls clothing?
Whenever I make/get them new stuff. Or when I take pictures. Or when we go somewhere.

66. If you could take your doll anywhere with you in the world, where would that be?
I’d love to just be able to bring them with me on all my trips. Because I will certainly be trying to go on a stupid number of them in my life.

67. Have you ever done something to your SD and felt bad about it? (ex. leaving her naked all night, dropping her)
Er…Kaien’s face. It has been a bit of trouble for me in the past, and I severly regret just leaving it lying around, and leaving him in pieces for more than a day when I had to wait before I could fix it. And I’ve had spaz attacks about some of the sanding/painting I’ve done to it, but it’s all been fixed, so I feel alright now. And I felt bad when I pulled the hooks out of his feet. :X

68. What paint brand do you use on your doll?
Acrylic, and I think my stuff is Liquitex?

69. If you were stranded on a deserted island with your doll, what 3 things would you want for your doll to have?
Well uh…means of survival for me, and clothes for both of us? I’m not sure how I can pick just three things.

70. Does your doll have a girlfriend/boyfriend?
I’m not sure I want to define the relationship like that, but yes, something like that.

71. Does your doll have siblings (ex. brother/sister)?
Kaien has a younger brother, Yashin (who should be here soon.) Terranova has an imaginary(?) twin brother, Erebus.

72. Will you pierce your doll's ears?
Yashin’s gonna need some piercing, definitely.

73. Have you given your doll a manicure? What color?
Not yet I haven’t.

74. Did you do the esthetic process on your doll?
Every bit of customizing, I do myself. So yes. Though I still have to get around to cleaning Nova off and getting her seams sanded right.

75. If so, are you glad you did?
Not while I was doing it. *sanded Kaien on her birthday* But it felt better than paying $60 for it. Coating/stringing is no problem, and faceups vary from day to day whether I’m glad with them or not.

76. If not, why not?
At the moment, there’s no not’s.

77. If you could change anything they did with the SD body, what would it be?
I wish Kaien had the pure skin body with the lovely new knees and such. But I couldn’t change his head out for an F17 now if I’d wanted to, and perhaps someday I’ll buy him a new body.

78. Have you sueded and wired your doll?
Not yet!

79. If your SD could be friends with any other SD, which SD would it be?
Er, not something I’ve planned? Whoever they feel like being friends with.

80. Do you plan to get more SDs in the future?
Of course! As much as my family tries to get me to promise not to.

81. If so, which SDs?
Yashin (FCS F17) should be on his way home soon, when Volks is done with him.
Mercedes is going to have to come next. I THINK she’ll have a customized dreaming Lishe head with the CP mature body.
Thantos/Dantae/whatever the fuck he’s going to let himself be called in the end - is going to be a long legged F16 boy.
Those are the only ones I’ve commited myself to, but there are others I’d love to bring home some day. Namely Nova’s brother, just for my own amusement. Ohnah, but I don’t know who she’d be yet. Nicholi, who apparently is a School Head A. Ect, ect, ect….XD;;;

82. Do you change the paint on your SDs often?
For Kaien, all the damn time. XD

83. What is your SD?s favorite color?
Not necessarily favorite, but the colors I associate with them. Kaien is blue. Nova is red. Yashin will be yellow. Mercedes - deep brown, or green. I could go on?

84. In general, what is your SDs mood or look?
Kaien is looking at me a bit grumpily right now. He’s generally pretty apathetic, but he is certainly up for a bit of fun if given the chance. And at the right angle, he’s got a reluctant smile still. And not generally, but he’s got a vicious snarky streak. Miss TN has some kind of blank look on her face, but she’s always looking for some excitement and danger and matains some kind of optimistic perspective (optimistic for her at least. o_o )

85. Describe your SD's favorite outfit.
They don’t really have a favorite outfit right now, as I haven’t had a chance to find/make clothes I absolutely LOVE them in.

86. Does your SD have a formal name? What is it?
Kaien Kuuhaku. Terranova E. Aonghas.

87. Do you have any ?colored? wigs for you SDs? (green, pink, blue, purple, etc) Which ones?
No siree. But I do promise I will have some -strange- wigs for future dolls.

88. What SD would you like to see in the future?

89. If you have more than one SD, do you favor one over the others?
Well, I’m not going to deny I have an extremely sensitive soft spot for Kaien. So yes. Terranova is love, but she just can’t stack up to my boy for what she means to me.

Hell no!

Volks and Luts. And See No Evil brand. >D

I nearly thought I regretted giving up on a school head A I could have had before I had enough for FCS, but after customizing the F29 head, I wouldn’t give it up for the world.

93. Do any of your friends own SDs?
Online friends, yes! I’ve got a few people in real life who plan to get them, so perhaps by October.

94. Do you have SD get togethers?
The only one I’ve had so far is meeting Leigh and her boys at Katsu. But I’ll be meeting Sheep and Seiko’s boys at Otakon, and hopefully will have get togethers with Sheep in the near future!

95. Have you lied about the true cost of your SD to your family or friends?
I’ve tried to, but since I had to go through my parent’s account for Kaien, I couldn’t. XD

96. Do you think of yourself as being obsessive about your SD? If so, explain?
I get insane over my hobbies, are you kidding?

97. If the house was on fire, what would you grab first? Your SD, wallet, clothes or no time and save yourself?
SD’s definitely. And my computer if I could drag it out the door. *_*

98. Did you buy a digital camera only because you wanted to take pictures of your SD to show off online?
We already had one, but since getting these dolls I have become obsessed with photographing everything, and am planning to get a much nicer camera for Birthday/Christmas.

99. If you passed on, who gets your SD? wife/husband/kids/best friend/no one...it goes with me! Explain why!
I can’t imagine ever having them sold. I wouldn’t leave them with my family certainly, they’d have to go to someone who knows how much them mean (meant) to me, and wouldn’t mind taking care of them. (not just letting them waste away in their boxes or something.)

100. Do you think you'll ever tire of your SD? Why/Why not?
I don’t think so. Because there is just so much to these dolls, and I have tried and developed so many new things because of them that I can’t imagine ever getting rid of them. (It would break my heart to ever sell one of my crew.) If they stayed static, I imagine I might grow tired, but with all my fussing, they are both constantly changing and developing themselves. I keep falling in love with them over and over again.
